Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This top-of-the-line Eufy bot is the top hands-off model we've test so far. It vacuums, mops, and self-empties its bin, washes and dry mop pads without you having to do anything.
It's not equipped with the latest cleaning techniques and a bigger docking station, but it delivers stellar performance at a fraction of the cost of premium robot vacuums. It also boasts the ability to reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
Vacuuming using a robot hoover is a fast, simple method to keep your floors looking and feeling clean. The majority of the robots we've included that we have selected are designed to work without your intervention So you can schedule them to work while you're out or start a cleaning session from your smartphone. You'll need to choose a robot with excellent navigation and object detection in order to avoid getting stuck under furniture or falling down the stairs.
Certain models are better at picking up pet hair from carpets than others, so it's important to select an item that is able to effectively and efficiently clean all flooring types. Find a robot that has a large dustbin that will hold a lot of dirt in between emptyings, and a nozzle which does not lose suction when it rotates.
The majority of robots require little or no maintenance other than removing tangled hair from the rotating brush (and wiping down its cameras or sensors, as required) after each cleaning session and periodically emptying the dust bin or a self-emptying base in the event that the robot has one. If robotvacuummops follow these simple maintenance tips, your robot vacuum will last as long as full-size vacuums and help keep your home tidy for longer.
While robot mops tend to be less flexible than their vacuum counterparts they do have the ability to clean up the puddles and spills while they're working. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of such a device, which is a good choice for people who have wood floors or a combination of carpets and rugs. It's quiet and has solid navigation capabilities that helped it avoid obstacles during testing and the charging dock doubles as a trash can.
For the best results, choose the robot that is capable of both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously. Karcher's RCV 5 is able to do that, and also has other features that are beneficial like live cameras, which broadcasts a grainy picture to your app, so you can keep an eye on your pet or children and a remote control that's easily programable. Its navigation may not be as efficient as some of the other models in this selection but its 500ml trash bin is large and doesn't require frequent emptying.
Mopping
Robots that vacuum and mops are relatively new to the market. They are more expensive than standalone robots and require an additional water tank, but the extra cost may be worth it for a lot of people, particularly those with difficult-to-clean stains, or pets.
Some of the top robots that vacuum and mop also do a great job cleaning floors with no carpets. Many manufacturers offer machines that can perform both tasks extremely efficiently. The Combo j9+, for example, is among the top mopping machines we've tested and uses an impressively large dock that can hold up to 60 days of debris. That's a big improvement on the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping 30 days of dirt in our tests.

The Tapo RV30 Plus from networking giant TP Link is a fantastic two-in-one. It is compact and quiet, with an elegant, easy-to-use look. In our test rooms, it was able to clean the floors thoroughly and precisely - it did particularly well on rugs, but it required multiple runs to fully clean some areas of soiled wood. Its LIDAR navigation system performs well, avoiding bumps into furniture or crossing power cords.
It's a bit slow on the stairs, but it's to be expected from a small robot that is designed to work around obstacles. The only issue is that its mopping pads are fiddly to attach and didn't stay put during our tests. It also isn't equipped to deal with dirt that has dried, which makes it more like a vacuum cleaner rather than a full-fledged robot mop.
Despite these issues, it's still a solid option for those seeking a hands-off cleaning experience. It can handle bare and low-pile carpets with equal competence. It has a decent amount of suction, which has helped to pick up fine dust and pet hair from carpets. A good feature is its automatic carpet recognition, which enhances the effectiveness of the vacuuming to tackle dirt that has been embedded. It is easy to use and the charging dock automatically empty the trash bin when it's full. This is an excellent feature for apartment dwellers.
Cleaning Apps
Most robot vacuums, mop and sweepers have an application that lets you modify cleaning routines. You can also choose rooms to be cleaned, schedule cleaning sessions, and alter settings like suction as well as water levels and scrubbing strength. Certain robots have intelligent dirt detection that utilizes map data and past cleaning data to identify dirty areas.
You can also make use of an app to create virtual barriers and no go zones to keep your robot away from dangerous objects, like cords and pet water bowls. Some models allow you to create these virtual barriers using laser navigation sensors, and others feature small physical barriers or boundary strips which you can put wherever you'd like to keep off your floor area.
There are still hazards to be aware of, even though the best robot vacuums can detect and maneuver around obstacles. The main brush of a robot can become stuck in long cords or curtains, and stop it dead in its tracks. To prevent this it is possible to rid the area of cords and tie up any long curtains.
Certain robots automatically update their software which controls the navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm. This improves performance and decreases the wear and tear of the robot's internal components. It is recommended to check regularly the website of the manufacturer as well as the app on your robot for updates to the firmware.
If you live in a large home, select one that comes with several cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on carpeted and hard floors with different suction settings. It also has the ability to automatically change to the highest power setting for carpets and increase its scrubbing capabilities with SmartScrub.
If you're looking to remain completely hands-free, a robotic device with an assistant that can be activated by voice is an excellent choice. The iRobot Roomba 980, for instance, can be controlled using a simple voice command from Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. It comes with a compact self-emptying docking system as well as a powerful cleaning motor that will leave your floors sparkling.
